The council has launched a local petition and says that it now has support from local businesses for the case to make the station fully accessible. The council notes that the area has seen significant development in the past decade, and that the station’s usage has risen by over a third in the past three years. The station is on the District line, but was originally built for the mainline railways and the disused platforms for the mainline trains still remain. The council is also pushing for Dagenham East to become a stop on the c2c line, an issue it first raised in October 2013 and included as a request in c2c’s December 2015 timetable proposals. There’s an existing slope here https://maps.app.goo.gl/CmBwi41HRnvsAR9R9 that as far as I can tell goes down to the eastbound and bay road LU platforms. It seems to me that adapting this for step free use my be fairly easy/quick/inexpensive. Access to the westbound through platform would require changing at Elm Park or Heathway, though, were there are island platforms. -- ???????? | |||
